Position Description July 2024

Program Manager, Residential Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization
Hybrid position, ideally located in eastern Massachusetts

Want to join a company that does good for the world? Do you care about the work you do and its impact on the future of our planet? Do you want caring coworkers and a good work/life balance? Join the Abode Energy Management (Abode) team, where you won’t ever want to leave.  We’re fun, kind, passionate, progressive, and innovative. We are a fast-growing energy efficiency program implementor in the northeast, focusing on residential weatherization, electrification and heat pump adoption.

Summary/Objective

Abode oversees home improvement contractors (“Trade Allies”) participating in the residential segment of the utility-sponsored Mass Save program to ensure program compliance and good customer experience.  Abode will be implementing a new Mass Save offering (“Turnkey Services”) in 4 MA environmental justice communities for the balance of 2024, with the intent of taking the program state-wide in 2025.  The Turnkey program focuses on providing subsidized services to moderate-income homeowners to remove roadblocks and enable homeowners to move forward with both weatherization and electrification measures to improve comfort and reduce the energy required for heating and cooling.  This position focuses on day to day management of Trade Ally relationships to help ensure the program’s success.  This is a terrific opportunity for someone with relevant experience and skills to build meaningful relationships with a variety of contractors, providing them with updates and insights to help them thrive while still holding them highly accountable.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Operations and working closely both with other Abode back office staff and field inspectors, the ProgramManager’s responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-Day Oversight of Trade Allies

The Program Manager will meet regularly with Trade Allies to roll out program changes, provide feedback, and hold them accountable for meeting program requirements.

  • Partner Network Support

The Program Manager will help recruit, support, and manage a network of Trade Allies, including electrical and HVAC contractors, needed to overcome obstacles preventing homeowners from moving forward with Mass Save eligible work.  The Program Manager will support the build-out of the new offer for TurnKey services, approve no-cost barrier remediation projects submitted by Home Performance Contractors, and assign projects as needed to an expanding network of Facilitated Services Contractors.

  • Dealing with Escalated Customer Issues

The Program Manager will get involved and work with Trade Allies to resolve escalated customer issues.  The Program Manager will respond to and resolve customer issues sent to Abode through reviews, utilities, social media, and all other channels.

  • Tracking Key Performance Indicators

The Program Manager will take the lead on tracking KPI’s for program success and work across Abode and the Trade Allies to help improve performance against those KPI’s.

  • Program Improvements

The Program Manager will assist the VP of Operations and other Program Managers in working with Mass Save Program Administrators and Trade Allies to improve or implement program updates and changes.
