SYSO has an immediate need for a Control Room Operator to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Boston, MA. This is a critical role that administers the real-time operation of SYSO’s portfolio of renewable energy assets. Control Room Operators are responsible for running acceptance tests for new resources, implementing asset-level schedules, monitoring and troubleshooting system performance issues, communicating with grid operators and tracking scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. Candidates will have a track record of working in a fast-paced and regimented environment, where adherence to process and escalation management are critical. Attention to detail, follow-up, and proven operational experience in a control room setting will be essential to the success of this role. Candidates must be willing to work in the Boston NOC on a rotating 24/7/365 schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support SYSO’s 24/7/365 control room desk; managing the execution of asset operating strategies to optimize performance including wholesale market participation, capacity and ancillary market services, and incentive programs
• Participate in market trainings and readiness tests to ensure NOC is prepared to dispatch portfolios for key market events
• Implement ad-hoc schedule changes and manage grid operator communications when assets go on and off maintenance
• Coordinate real-time communications with internal operational teams and external stakeholders
• Monitor energy market conditions and responds to dynamic resource availability
• Serve as point of contact for escalated client inquiries and system/device failures
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance new site onboarding practices
• Represent a team that strives for operational excellence and first-class customer service
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
• BA/BS in a technical field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years of related industry experience
• Successful track record in a process-oriented environment
• Proven ability to autonomously troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues, and communicate challenges
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals
• Must be highly disciplined, organized, with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work out of SYSO’s Boston office with flexibility for rotating schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:
• Experience in the electrical power industry including transmission and distribution, centralized and distributed energy resources, energy management and related technologies
