Optical Engineering Intern

Job Details
Description

About Dottir Labs:
Dottir Labs is an MIT spinout led by Nili Persits. We are building a new kind of chemical measurement system based on Raman spectroscopy at an unprecedented scale and low cost. This system will enable new kinds of process control and optimization addressing large scale human health and climate impacts.

About the Role:
Dottir Labs is seeking an Optical Engineering Intern to support the development and testing of our next-generation optical sensor technology. As part of a small, hands-on team, you will work closely with the technical team to build and test optical sensors, perform calibration, and assist in sample analysis. This internship is an opportunity to gain experience in real-world optical system development while contributing to cutting-edge sensor technology.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the assembly, alignment, and testing of optical sensors in a lab setting.
  • Work with the team to calibrate and validate sensor performance using standard testing procedures.
  • Participate in sample analysis and data collection, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and refine optical setups.
  • Document test procedures and results to support future development.

This role is ideal for someone eager to apply their optics knowledge in a hands-on environment, work with state-of-the-art sensing technology, and contribute to a high-impact project in an early-stage startup.
