Our Plan for Climatetech growth in Massachusetts
Climate change threatens jobs, businesses, and Massachusetts communities. Our response is a profound economic opportunity. That’s why MassCEC has developed a strategy to expand Massachusetts's standing as the climate innovation lab for the world while driving an equitable clean energy transformation and helping Massachusetts communities adapt to climate change. Thanks to historic funding from the Mass Leads Act, MassCEC is leading the Commonwealth’s efforts to:
- Grow, retain, and attract climatetech companies as they scale from the lab to the manufacturing facility
- Drive equity and create high-quality jobs in every region of Massachusetts
- Become the top destination for climatetech capital and a promising place for investment
- Cement our status as the #1 state for climatetech research and development
MassCEC’s Massachusetts Climatetech Economic Development Strategy & Implementation Plan offers a framework to drive this work and is the beginning of what is a transformative, collaborative effort. We are leading the industry that will help us solve the planet’s greatest challenge and protect communities around the world.

Come to Massachusetts
You may be aware that Massachusetts is home to top-notch universities, a vibrant economy, and championship sports teams. Did you know that we also have the highest percentage of clean energy workers per capita in the U.S. and our clean energy community includes the largest cleantech incubator in the country?
Private developers are building 3.6 GW of offshore wind off our coast, with at least 2 GW more coming, and we're training workers of all skill levels and ages for the exciting new jobs in this industry. Meanwhile, we're expanding our busy Wind Technology Testing Center and New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal and developing a new offshore wind terminal in Salem. We're committed to leading the clean energy transition and we welcome you, your company, your great ideas, and your passion for creating a better world into our supportive network of researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors. Come to Massachusetts, we can't wait to work with you!
