Massachusetts’ Success in ARPA-E
Out of the 37 awards made In the first round of the new ARPA-E Program in October 2009, Massachusetts companies and research institutions received 22% of the $151 million in grants. This was the largest percentage of the budget received by any state, including California (14%). This highly competitive program received more than 3,600 concept papers. Massachusetts continues to lead the way in innovation for in Clean Energy.
Massachusetts awardees included innovative technologies in improvement of solar PV process efficiency, liquid metal batteries, super-capacitors, high-yield biofuels and novel wind turbine technology.
